During our June Recognition Monday meeting, Carter Whitaker was asked to speak about one of Highpoint’s Fundamental Behaviors. He spoke on the principle of “don’t settle for ordinary” and empowered each member of our staff to challenge what that means to them.
Recognition Monday is a companywide meeting held each month to recognize employee achievements, celebrate our wins, and refocus our team on the agency’s annual goals.

Todays topic is about not settling for ordinary which is more important now than ever because in a world where mediocrity often prevails, it is essential that we rise above the average, the expected, and the mundane. We should not only just play the game; we should do everything we can to change it. We should not be content with fulfilling job descriptions; we should strive to make a unique and lasting impact on our clients coworkers and community.
Because true productivity is not found in conforming to the norm, but in breaking free from its shackles. It is in pushing boundaries, embracing innovation, and fearlessly stepping into uncharted territories.
The truly productive are not afraid to dream big and chase after their aspirations with an unwavering determination.
We gather once a month in these meetings, not as a group of individuals seeking complacency, but as a collective force of game-changers, visionaries, and pioneers. AND Each one of us possesses within ourselves the power to redefine our future and shape our own destinies. We have the ability to leave an undeniable mark on this world—a mark that surpasses the boundaries of what is expected.
It is easy to fall into the trap of conformity, to settle for the ordinary, and to become comfortable in the familiar. But many people here will tell you from personal experience that the magic happens outside the realm of the ordinary. It is only when you dare to change the norm and in embrace your uniqueness, that you can discover your true potential.
You must break free from the chains of self-doubt, fear of failure, and the lure of complacency. You must adopt a mindset of relentless pursuit, unwavering resilience, and unyielding perseverance. By understanding that your greater purpose is bigger than your emotions or reservations higher achievement for you and those around you becomes inevitable.
As we embark on this journey of making a unique difference that matters, we have to remember that it is not always an easy road. We will face obstacles, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But it is during these times that you must summon your inner strength, tap into your resilience, and keep pushing forward.
Our contributions to our clients coworkers and community are not limited to our job titles or societal expectations. So, I encourage everyone to embrace the challenge of creating your own future. And in that reject the notion of settling for the ordinary and strive for excellence in all that you do. Unleash your creativity, harness your potential, and inspire those around you to do the same.
