Pay Attention to the Details

By July 19, 2023July 27th, 2023Culture
During our July Recognition Monday meeting, Stephanie Reed was asked to speak about one of Highpoint’s Fundamental Behaviors. She spoke on the principle of “pay attention to the details” and empowered each member of our staff to challenge what that means to them.
Recognition Monday is a companywide meeting held each month to recognize employee achievements, celebrate our wins, and refocus our team on the agency’s annual goals.
Stephanie’s talk is packed with encouragement and examples of incredible diligence.

Here at Highpoint, we encourage perfection. But how do we get there? People think perfection needs to be instantaneous; however, perfection doesn’t happen over night. Leonardo Da Vinci once said, “Details make perfection, and perfection is not a detail.” Being perfect in our work life comes by PAYING ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS. From labeling of mail in our system to the premium numbers in a proposal, details are highly important. Being perfect in your position sometimes has its ups and downs, but we are all human and no one is perfect. Nevertheless, if we strive everyday to be our best, we will succeed!

Now there is this thing called a mistake. It’s a nasty little bugger that can get you down sometimes, but it’s okay to make them! Heather and Brandon created the core value “Own Your Mess” for a reason. What they encourage is for you to admit to yourself “Hey I made a mistake” and also grow from that mistake. I know I made plenty of mistakes when I first started mail, but I made sure to learn how to not make them again because I PAID ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Because I paid attention, I have mastered the mail process and created a “Beginners Guide to Mail.”

The success to perfection is learning and growing. It may take time and get on your last nerve if you are not perfect right then and there. In the end though, it will all be worth it!
